Margrete Erling
In 2011 Margrete Erling, co-founder of art2264, saw a need to get something arty happening in Morisset. "I knew there were a lot of people interested in art, but there wasn't much around for locals to get involved in". Speaking to Margrete, it is not hard to see a passion for art that flows forth into her daily life. Over the years, Margrete has worked as a photography and fine arts teacher at five different TAFES, an events manager for Marickville Council, a youth arts officer for people with disabilities, and as an arts officer at a correctional centre. She has also had experience working with ethnic communities on multicultural art. At the end of the day Margrete says she wants to make art accessible to all people, "it shouldn't be something just for the elite". Margrete's drive to bring art to the community is evident as she chats and paints with the kids each month at art2264. Her skills, her energy and her drive have contributed something new and unique to Morisset.
