Here's a story about last month's art2264 event:

Wow! What an amazing start to the school holidays! On the 21/09/12 Morisset PCYC started school holidays with a bang by holding another one of its much-awaited events. A great atmosphere was created with the friendly help from the police service and the ever willing Morisset rotary club: their assistance was invaluable. This PCYC event was full of great activities for a wide range of ages.

The afternoon kicked off with the usual drumming class with the “Rhythm Hunters”. This class is a great way to either form the basis of your drumming skills, or build on top of your skills; everyone participating in the class was having tonnes of fun while learning at the same time.

The many drums all pounding at the same time provided great background music for those who were having some fun shooting some hoops or playing a game of volleyball. Morisset PCYC had cooked up another one of tasty barbeques for parents, kids and the police, who do get hungry too, believe it or not.

The music from the drums was a great lead into the new guitar work shop with Marcus Harkness . He’s an amazing, not to mention self-taught guitarist, who shares his great passion for music and the guitar. He taught those participating in the work shop different chords, strumming patterns and told great stories of his life in the music business. At the end of the class, Marcus handed out a booklet so that kids could practice right throughout their spare time in the holidays.

Once again the police brought along the PCYC mobile, their mobile gaming centre, which was set up for the whole night and had kids practically fighting for a seat. The police also joined in with the kids and had some fun with different sports and gaming.

After the guitar workshop was another music based class, the hip-hop workshop. This energetic class, run by Deborah Lee Dance Academy, is great fun for the kids participating and is a great opportunity for the adults to watch their children shine. They danced to a variety of songs including Party Rock Anthem and some other great hits.

The first night of the holidays is a night when people want to go out and have fun, and PCYC was definitely the place to go to play around, catch up with friends, meet new people and learn some good skills along the way. And I think we speak for all when we say that nobody can wait for the next fabulous event from the PCYC.
