Join us on Friday 16th November from 5pm for art2264. Then at 7pm, dance the night away with Morisset's first ever Blue Light disco!

Blue Light, the PCYC’s popular under 18s music event, is coming to Morisset! For the first time, young people in West Lake Macquarie will be able to experience this Australian cultural icon, and groove to some of the best dance music around. On Friday 16th November, from 7-10pm, local youth can show us that yes, they really can dance, to the awesome sounds of DJ Gary Kite.

Rosmairi Okeno, Morisset Town Coordinator, said “the excitement of hosting our first Blue Light Disco is immense! Finally there’s a safe, fun environment for our youth to enjoy. They can socialise outside of the school environment, and make new friends”.

“We really need something for our kids to do, in the local area, and regular Blue Light events should help fill this gap”.

It’s a sentiment likely to be shared by many of Morisset teens and tweens, whipped to a fever pitch of popular entertainment by reality television shows like ‘So, you think you can dance?’ and the slick dance moves on offer in ‘The X Factor’. While Blue Light events are extremely popular across the country, similar events at Bateau Bay PCYC regularly attract over a thousand young people.

Here’s some vision of Blue Light in action:

‘It’s all part of the PCYC mission’ explained Morisset PCYC Manager, Andrew Best. ‘We get young people active in life. It’s all about building positive relationships between kids and their communities’.
Borrowing the Starbucks marketing phrase, Best describes the PCYC as being a friendly ‘third place’ for kids between school and home.

Entry is $10 per child and this includes a sausage sandwich and water/cordial. Any other food and drinks must be purchased at the kiosk. Blue Light is a drug, alcohol and smoke free event and there are no pass outs (parents must collect their kids at 10pm).

The event will feature a lucky door prize of DJ and Band Hero PS3 consoles, as well as dance demonstrations and other cool stuff.

Blue Light will kick off after Morisset PCYC’s regular monthly youth art event, art2264, which will run between 5-7pm.
