21st event- "MID REVIEW PARTY" 21 June 2013

 Report, by Bernadette Gambrill

On Friday, June 21, the local community came together to celebrate the mid-mark of the Art2264. Manik Jones – a theatre sports and magic show Magician - started off the event with magic tricks for the children. A few magical tools in his tricks included cards, strings, balloons and ‘mind reading’.

The Brad Circus family had an assortment of tricks to impress the audience. Brad showed us a few tricks with his silver magic hoop, his wife Claire showed the audience a few dancing tricks with her hoola hoop, and his sons very impressively unicycled and juggled- at the same time!

Elly, dressed in purple to match her guitar, also sang a song for the audience. Taleah sang acapella with a contmeporary song:  Tamsen sang acapella with the song: ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’.

Stavri Comino sang for the audience with – as put by Manik Jones – “…The smallest guitar I have ever seen.” – also known as a ukulele. He sang 3 songs, one of his own: named ‘Legacy’, and a few covers of ‘Saving Grace’, and ‘Leaving on a Jet Plane.’ Markus Harkness performed for the audience with 2 cover songs:  Dylan on guitar with ‘Nothing Else Matters, and Jessica on guitar with ‘Blackbird’. Tynan sang ‘Let it be’ for the audience with a backing track. His performance ended on a high note… literally!

The event ended with a bang as kids popped balloons, helped to pack up the chairs and headed for home after a long night of fun.
