"DANCE MOOVES" Friday 18 October 2013

18 October Report, by Bernadette Gambrill
On the 18th of October, 2013, the community of Morisset came together and put on their dancing shoes for a night of fast paced fun. The afternoon started off at 4:30PM with Indian Stick and Scarf dancing - a style used in festivals - with the ladies from Chakras Performing Arts. First, colourful scarves were tied around the body and rhythmic sticks were used in time with the music. Afterwards, small hand scarves were used to dance with. The audience was then shown Indian Hip Hop style moves and participated in a small routine. Then at 5:30PM began the faced paced Zumba workout with Jodi. The Zumbatomic workshop was primarily focused on fitness and workout, to upbeat, world music - as well as well-known songs like: ‘Titanium’. Dance steps included jumping, moving, and wiggling in time to the music. The evening finished off with a Hip Hop workshop with Miss Tiff from MADdance, starting off the class with a stretching exercise. She taught the class some dance moves like ‘The Helicopter’, and ‘The Shuffle’, along with a few dancing games and exercises. Drinks, quiches, cupcakes and sausage rolls were available (and popular!) on the day from Busy Baking. At the end of the day, everybody was exhausted but had lots of fun.
